Several European airlines refuse to stay overnight in Ukraine

SWISS, Austrian Airlines and KLM have given up overnight parking in Kyiv Boryspil, changing their flight schedule so that planes and crews will be in Ukraine only during the day. The reason is the threat of a possible Russian attack on Ukraine.

On January 23, Austrian Airlines scheduled an OS667 Vienna-Kiev evening flight. But instead of staying overnight at Boryspil airport, the plane immediately returned to Austria as special flight OS1402. In the morning, the plane was supposed to deliver passengers from Kiev to Vienna on a regular OS668 flight, but the airline canceled the flight.

Swiss Airlines canceled the evening departure of flight LX2290 from Zurich to Kiev on January 23. Instead, the plane was sent to Kiev on a special flight LX7390 on the morning of January 24 to pick up the passengers and return immediately.

KLM flights numbered KL1387 from Amsterdam to Kiev have been canceled since January 22nd.

The tense situation in Ukraine has made that France to issue a travel landing. The French Foreign Ministry has advised French citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Ukraine due to national security concerns. Tensions between Ukrainian and Russian troops on the country's northern and eastern borders are rising.
