SilkAir is in possession of the first Boeing 737-800 Next Generation

On 3 February 2014, SilkAir celebrated the delivery of the first Boeing 737-800 Next Generation. Also, with this delivery, SilkAir began the process of transitioning to an all Boeing fleet. In the coming years, Boeing will deliver 23 of 737-800 and 31 of 737 MAX 8 aircraft to Singapore.

The new 737 Next Generation will enter the operational program later this month, to fly on existing SilkAir routes, particularly to destinations in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. Starting with March 2014 and as it receives more Boeing 737 aircraft, SilkAir will fly to more destinations in Cambodia, Vietnam, India and the Philippines.

SilkAir is a regional subsidiary Singapore Airlines and operates over 350 weekly flights to 45 from destinations in 12 countries.
