Simona Halep won the first title of the year, defeating Angelique Kerber in the final Qatar Total Open 2014, a tour sponsored by Qatar Airways. Simona won the final with a score of 6-2, 6-3, to the applause of the spectators present in the stands of the arena in the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash complex in Doha.

Simona Halep had a very good evolution in this tournament, previously defeating two other players from the top 10: No. 7 - Sara Errani in the quarterfinals and No. 4 - Agnieszka Radwanska in the semifinals. Simona Halep won 900 WTA points and climbed to 9th place in the world rankings.

Qatar Airways, the official air carrier of the event, has supported the Qatar Total Open since 2001, being the first professional tennis tournament in the Middle East.
