Given the current global situation with the aviation industry in crisis, SkyTeam argues International Air Transport Association (IATA) call for test for standardized COVID-19 before departure.

SkyTeam companies encourage fast COVID-19 testing

The SkyTeam Alliance believes that rapid, scalable and reliable testing for COVID-19, carried out in cooperation with local airport authorities and government bodies, will provide the necessary reopening of borders, while giving customers greater peace of mind.

SkyTeam CEO Kristin Colvile said: "Passenger testing would benefit not only our members, but also all airlines and the wider travel industry, providing the clarity so needed to restore consumer confidence. It adds to the rigorous clean-up measures that SkyTeam members have already implemented under our SkyCare & Protect commitment to ensure that our flight is as safe as possible."

Standardized, accurate passenger testing would further enhance the extensive personal safety program implemented by the 19 SkyTeam members earlier this year to help protect customers and employees.

SkyCare & Protect is a comprehensive range of 15 hygiene and health practices, including more frequent sanitation of aircraft, HEPA filters installed on aircraft, wearing a face mask for passengers and employees, frequent access to hand sanitation stations and wipes, distance and others.
