It has been 7 months since the global COVID-19 pandemic was activated. And also 7 months since humanity lived unique moments. Until now, there have been periods when everything has been blocked and free movement has been restricted even within the European Union.

Every country, every government, every authority imposed the restrictions as it saw fit, all in the hopes of limiting the spread of the new coronavirus. But the results are not as hoped and desired, and the number of new cases is increasing day by day. So what's next?

EU Member States have approved the package of recommendations

Finally, after long debates, EU Member States approve package of recommendations on travel restrictions in the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to have no more discussions and no more discrimination, the EU recommends that all countries apply the same measures under the same conditions.

EU countries will share the latest epidemiological data with the European Center for Disease Control. And it will publish a weekly map of Europe (including data from the Schengen Associated States), updated in a variety of colors according to the risk in a given region.

There will be no restrictions if you travel from a "green" region. But when you travel from an "orange" or "red" region, the governments of the destination countries may ask you to test or quarantine.

Classification of European countries according to epidemiological risk

For a country to be green it should have less than 4% positive tests and less than 25 cases per 100 people in the last 000 days.

A country will be included in the orange zone if it will have more than 4% positive tests, but less than 50 cases per 100 inhabitants. Or less than 000% positive tests, but a number of new cases between 4 and 25 per 150 inhabitants. Everything reported in 100 days.

States and regions will be on the red list with over 4% positivity rate and over 50 new cases per 100 inhabitants in the last 000 days. If the number of new cases exceeds 14 compared to 150 inhabitants, the percentage of positivity does not even matter.

The countries will be on the gray area which does not provide too much information to be able to assess the epidemiological risk.

According to the recommendations, a country wishing to impose restrictive measures on travelers coming from or traveling to an area considered to be at risk will have to inform that State as far as possible 48 hours before the entry into force of this measure.. The population will also have to be informed 24 hours before the restriction is imposed.

EU Member States should not refuse entry into their territory to travelers coming from another Member State

Another recommendation is that EU Member States should not refuse travelers coming from another Member State to enter their territory.. But those who come from an orange, red or gray area may be required to have a quarantine or a mandatory test.

It is also desired to have a single type of European form, to be completed by all travelers. But these are just a few recommendations. EU Member States have the opportunity to decide whether or not to apply the recommended measures.

The rules imposed by Romania

At the moment, Romania imposes some restrictions on those traveling in the yellow zone. A 14-day quarantine is required for all those who arrive in Romania from the countries and regions on the yellow list. However, asymptomatic people can come out of isolation after 10 days if they take a test on the 8th day of isolation. Exceptions to the quarantine are those who want to travel to Romania for a maximum period of 3 days, as they are required to present a negative COVID-19 test upon entering the country. not older than 48 hours after harvest.
