On February 17, 2023, a strike by German airport workers will disrupt air operations. No less than seven German airports have announced that there will be operational problems, and thousands of flights are already cancelled.

Strikes planned at seven German airports on Friday will lead to "massive disruption", the operator of the country's largest airport, Frankfurt, warned on Wednesday, setting the stage for another day of travel chaos caused by pay disputes.

Germany's Verdi union on Wednesday called on airport workers in Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Dortmund, Hanover and Bremen to go on strike for 24 hours, saying collective bargaining talks had made little progress.

"There will therefore be massive air traffic disruptions on Friday, February 17, 2023," said Fraport ( FRAG.DE ), operator of Frankfurt airport, which has more than 48 million passengers in 2022.

The strike is expected to particularly affect domestic travel, according to the union, which said it had given advance warning of the strike so passengers could find alternatives. Frankfurt and Munich, Germany's largest airports, have announced that all frequent commercial flights will be cancelled.

The strikes on February 17 will lead to the cancellation of flights between Romania and Germany. If you have flights planned from Bucharest, Cluj, Timisoara, Sibiu to airports in Germany, check their status.
