On 19 in February, Boeing and SunExpress announced that they were beating the 40 for Boeing 737 aircraft: 15 737 MAX 8 aircraft and 25 737-800 Next Generation aircraft. The order is valued at 3.8 billion dollars, calculated at the list price and also includes additional options for 10 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

This is the largest order given by the Turkish carrier, and the 737 MAX project has tightened orders for 1800 units. 737 MAX will be the 4 generation of the Boeing 737 narrowbody aircraft family and will be Boeing's response to the Airbus A320neo. The new MAX aircraft will be powered by CFM International LEAP-1B engines, which are more fuel efficient, but more powerful. There will be some upgrades to the fuselage and interior. Boeing Sky Interior and LED lighting will not be lacking. The 737 MAX generation is based on the current 737 Next Generation family.

SunExpress is a Turkish airline based in Antalya airport. It was founded in 1989 by Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa. Currently, SunExpress carries over 7 millions of passengers annually, being one of the most important airlines on routes connecting Germany with Turkey. SunExpress operates an all-Boeing fleet of 60 Next Generation 737 aircraft and flies to 90 from destinations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
