Sunwing Airlines, a low-cost airline in Canada, made its first flight from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) after a hiatus of nearly eight months due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The flight WG434 was destined for Puntea Cana resort in the Dominican Republic. The plane took off at 08:00 and landed at Punta Cana airport at 13:30 local time.

On November 6, 2020, the company Sunwing airline symbolically marked the relaunch of its operations after a break of 230 days. The flight was operated with a Boeing 737-8SH aircraft, registered C-GLRN.

In a statement issued on November 9, 2020, the airline announced that, in addition to the route Toronto (YYZ) - Punta Cana (PUJ), it will frequently operate flights to tropical destinations. The flights to Montego Bay (BMJ) will be operated on Fridays and Saturdays. Flights to Cancun (CUN) will be operated on Saturdays and Sundays.

Sunwing Airlines has also announced some changes to its domestic policy. The safety of passengers and employees is very important. As a result, in early September, the airline has partnered with Medcan, a medical consulting company. Thus, the project was created "Safe with Sunwing."

The low-cost carrier announced that, in order to control and prevent the growth of bacteria on the surfaces, Sunwing equipped the entire fleet of 16 Boeing 737 aircraft with antimicrobial spray.
