Goodbye, Avro RJ100 Swiss!

The last flight operated by Avro RJ100 was on the route Geneva - Zurich. After landing, the HB-IYZ registered aircraft received the traditional salute of water cannons. This special flight, operated under the code LX7545, carried media representatives, SWISS officials and guests.

The Avro RJ100 and Avro RJ85 aircraft have formed the main core of the SWISS fleet since the company was founded in 2002. The Avro fleet flew over 700.000 hours. During this time, SWISS made over half a million flights with this aircraft of British origin.

SWISS replaced "Jumbolino" aircraft with new aircraft from the Bombardier CSeries family. Avro RJ100 SWISS aircraft have had very good maintenance, which makes them able to continue flying. They are likely to reach other airlines' fleets and continue to fly.

The Avro RJ100 (HB-IYZ) operated the last international flights (LX464 & LX465) on the route Zurich - London City Airport, on August 14th. His place has been taken, starting with 9 August 2017, by Bombardier CS100 aircraft.
