THAI Smile has acquired the first Airbus A320

THAI Smile, the first regional company operating under the patronage Thai Airways International (THAI), entered into possession of the first Airbus A320, in Hamburg, on 28 June 2012. The aircraft has a capacity of 174 seats and is powered by IAE V2527-A5 engines.

Based in Bangkok, the low-cost carrier will start operations on 7 in July and will operate the first flight to Macau. It will also operate domestic flights to Krabi, Chiang Mai, Surat Thani and Phuket.

THAI Smile will receive 11 Airbus A320 aircraft, the first 6 will be purchased from SMBC Aviation Capital, and the next 5 are purchased directly from Airbus and will come equipped with a "Sharklet".
