The Dutch authorities have announced that they will remove some of the restrictions imposed on countries with a very high epidemiological risk, including the United States and the United Kingdom, from 22 September.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports, Americans and Britons, as well as travelers arriving from other areas with a very high epidemiological risk, can travel to the Netherlands without being quarantined on arrival, if vaccinated.

"Almost 13 million people in the Netherlands have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine and over 11 million are fully vaccinated. Hospitals and hospitalizations in the ICU are stable. Most people who are hospitalized or tested positive for coronavirus are not yet vaccinated. ", was one of the statements of the Ministry of Health.

Thus, from 22 September, unvaccinated travelers will continue to be banned from entering the Netherlands, and vaccinated travelers will be required to submit a negative test result in order to enter. In addition, passengers over the age of 13 arriving by air will need to complete a health declaration.

The third dose and booster vaccines will be given to those with immune system disorders, following a recommendation from the Dutch Health Council.

With the exception of the removal of restrictions on vaccinated travelers arriving from high-risk areas, the Dutch authorities have ended the 1.5-meter social distance requirement. They also said that bars, restaurants and hotels can reopen at full capacity.

"Facial masks are still mandatory in airports, inside aircraft, trains, buses, trams and subways, in taxis and other passenger transport. Facial masks should no longer be worn in train stations and at bus, tram and metro stations. ", is shown in the press release.

The lifting of the restrictions comes less than two weeks after the Dutch authorities announced that stricter restrictions will be imposed on US travelers, following the EU recommendation. On August 30, The United States has been removed by the EU Council from the list of safe third countries epidemiologically, together with Kosovo, Israel, Lebanon, Northern Macedonia and Montenegro, as rates of Coronavirus infection are on the rise.
