The first Airbus A321LR SAS was delivered. Biofuel was used on the delivery flight.

SAS received the first of the three A321LRs leased from Air Lease Corporation (NYSE: AL). Thus, it became the newest operator of the most efficient single-aisle aircraft dedicated to medium and long flights. The Airbus A321LR is powered by CFM Leap-1A engines.

The delivery flight from the Airbus base in Hamburg to the SAS base in Copenhagen used 10% biofuel. Airbus is the first aircraft manufacturer to offer customers the option to use biofuel for the delivery of new aircraft. Such delivery flights are available from 2016.

The first Airbus A321LR SAS was delivered

Airbus A321LR SAS has a cabin with a modern and extremely comfortable design. It comes in 3 comfortable classes and can carry up to 157 passengers: 22 seats at SAS Business, 12 seats at SAS Plus and 123 seats at SAS Go. SAS intends to use the aircraft on transatlantic routes departing from the Nordic countries.

The A321LR, a member of the A320neo family, offers 30% lower fuel consumption and is 50% quieter compared to previous generation competing aircraft. 

With a range of up to 4.000 nm (7.400 km), the A321LR is the unparalleled router. It offers premium comfort similar to wide-body aircraft, all in a single-aisle cabin.

SAS operates an Airbus fleet of 76 aircraft, of which 63 x A320 Family, 9 x A330 Family and 4 x A350 XWB.

At the end of September 2020, the Airbus A320neo family of aircraft had orders for 7.450 aircraft from over 110 customers worldwide.
