The longest suspension pedestrian bridge is being built in the Czech Republic

The longest suspension bridge in the world is being built in the Czech Republic. It will be located in the Dolni Morava ski resort in the north-east of the country.

In addition to the popular Skywalk, bobsled and mammoth roller coaster track and other attractions, a unique suspension bridge over the Mlýnické Valley is being built in the resort.

The bridge, which will be 721 meters long, will cross the Mlynsky River valley from the Slamnik ridge to the Khlum ridge, at an altitude of 1.125 m. Towards the end of the route, the opening will increase by another 10 m. The structure will be supported by cables and its total weight will be 400 tons.

The bridge, called Sky Bridge 721, is expected to become a new local tourist attraction. It will be inaugurated in the spring of 2022. It can be reached by cable car.

Builders will use 1030 cubic meters of concrete to build the suspension bridge. It will weigh 405 tons, the total weight of the ropes reaching 158 tons, and the auxiliary structures 20 tons. The main rope will have a diameter of 76 millimeters.
