The new conditions of travel and entry into France

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the French authorities have revised the conditions for entry into the French Republic in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, according to information publicly communicated by the French authorities, starting with October 11, 2021, the duration of the validity of PCR or antigen tests to be presented by unvaccinated persons arriving in the French Republic of Romania has been reduced to 24 hours.

Unvaccinated persons arriving in the French Republic of Romania must present one of the following two documents:

  • a COVID-19 negative PCR or antigen test performed no more than 24 hours before departure;
  • a certificate attesting to the passage through the disease - previous infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus in a period between 11 days and a maximum of 6 months prior to entry into the territory of the French Republic.

Children up to the age of 12 are still exempt from this measure.

The MFA recalls that, according to the measures adopted by the French authorities, persons vaccinated in full (with a vaccine authorized by the European Union) and who are over 12 years old, must not test negative for COVID-19. Proof of immunization is valid if at least 7 days have elapsed since the second dose with the double-dose vaccines (Pfizer / Comirnaty, Moderna, AstraZeneca / Vaxzevria / Covishield), 28 days after the dose for the Janssen single-dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson) and 7 days after the dose for people who have been infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus and for whom a single dose is required in the French Republic.

At the same time, the French authorities have stated that only certificates containing a QR code and written in the language of the state in which they were issued are accepted as certificates proving vaccination, passing through the disease or the negative result of an RT-PCR or antigen test. in English.

The MFA also recalls that all persons (including children) traveling to the French Republic must submit to the transport company or at the border crossing a declaration on their own, stating that they do not show specific symptoms COVID-19 and are not aware of former contact of a confirmed case.
