Top 10 airports in Europe by number of passengers served (2014)

Official figures have appeared regarding the number of passengers transiting European airports. In 2014, London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle and Frankfurt airports they have maintained their leading positions and are still the busiest European hubs. The surprise comes from Istanbul Atatürk Airport, which grew by 11.1% and climbed to the position of 4, ahead of the Dutch airport Amsterdam Schiphol.

1. London Heathrow - 73.4 million passengers - an increase of 1.4% compared to 2013
2. Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport - 63.8 million passengers - an increase of 2.8% compared to 2013
3. Frankfurt - 59.6 million passengers - an increase of 2.6% compared to 2013
4. Istanbul Atatürk - 57 million passengers - an increase of 11.1% compared to 2013
5. Amsterdam Schiphol - 55 million passengers - an increase of 4.6% compared to 2013
6. Madrid – Barajas Adolfo Suárez - 41.8 million passengers - an increase of 5.3% compared to 2013
7. Munich - 39.7 million passengers - an increase of 2.7% compared to 2013
8. Rome Leonardo da Vinci – Fiumicino - 38.6 million passengers - an increase of 6.9% compared to 2013
9. London Gatwick - 38.1 million passengers - an increase of 7.5% compared to 2013
10. Barcelona El Prat - 37.5 million passengers - an increase of 6.7% compared to 2013

Henri Coandă Bucharest Airport continue to grow. In 2014, 8.3 reported millions of passengers served, which means an increase of 6.3% over 2013. In the European ranking, Henri Coandă Bucharest Airport climbed to the 55 position, 2 places in addition to 2013.
