Personally, a surprise comes from the airport in Tulcea, which registered 4 232 of passengers. Thus, it is no longer the "black sheep" of Romania.

But the biggest surprises come from the airports in Oradea and Suceava, which have experienced fabulous growth. Oradea International Airport recorded 162 902 of passengers (41 875 in 2016), while the airport in Suceava reported 262 165 (57 226 in 2016).

Sibiu airport climbed to 5

We see a reversal of the situation in the middle of the ranking. Sibiu Airport climbed to the 5 place, while Bacau Airport went down to the 7 position. The airport in Craiova climbed to the position of 6, another beautiful surprise of the year 2017.

Another notable surprise comes from Arad airport. In 2017, 11 282 passengers were registered. We mention that in 2016 the result was 0!

At the bottom of the ranking we find 2 airports, once very frequented by passengers, Târgu Mureș Airport and Baia Mare Airport. Both were closed for repair / modernization. It is expected that they will be open from the 2018 summer season.

Paralela 45 has already announced the charter flights on the route Târgu Mureș - Antalya. They will start on June 11, 2018. We are waiting to see what other flights will be resumed from Transilvania Târgu Mureș Airport.

Not in the table is the Tuzla International Airport, which has registered 16 077 passenger traffic, increasing compared to 2016. Even if it is open to international passenger and freight traffic from 2013 through Order no. 1.133, Tuzla airport does not have regular passenger flights. It is focused on special flights, charters, school flights.

This airport is the host of the first integrated (aero-naval) professional search-and-rescue service in Romania.

That said, we expect a more dynamic 2018 on the Romanian market.

Clear sky!
