Top 3 largest airports in Europe is also maintained in 2018. All airports have increased passenger traffic, but the podium remains unchanged.

1. London Heathrow Airport

London Heathrow Airport remains at the top position the busiest airport in Europe. In 2018, the airport was transacted over 80 by millions of passengers. The increase was 2.7% compared to 2017, when there were 78 of millions of passengers.

The podium is completed by Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, which retains its 3 position with 71 millions of passengers registered in 2018. The increase was 3.7% compared to 2017, when there were 68.4 million passengers.

In 2018, 499 446 of aircraft movements, take-offs and landings were recorded, increasing by 0.5% compared to the previous year.

And at the end, we want to mention that Frankfurt International Airport remains in 4 position with 69.5 million passengers registered in 2018. It remains one of the largest airports in Europe at operational level.

2018 was a good year for commercial aviation at European and global level. Most airports have seen increases in passenger air traffic as well as freight. 2019 announces more crowded.

We are waiting to see the figures from Henri Coanda International Airport, Otopeni - Bucharest. Compared to last year, when the figures were communicated in the first part of January, this year it seems that the report is delayed.
