Over half of the total number of Romanian tourists who visit Austria annually, choose this country for skiing. The Romanian representation of the Austrian National Tourism Office makes the first estimates for the winter season, making a top 5 of the most requested destinations for winter holidays by Romanian tourists.

Vienna

Vienna is one of the most visited destinations in Austria by Romanian tourists (ranked 11 among the top visitors by nationality). In winter, the main magnet of Vienna are the Christmas fairs, which will be open this year from 22 November to 24 December. These events attract approximately 500.000 of tourists who spend at least one night in Vienna annually, and Romanians estimate that they represent about 3,4% of the total.

Innsbruck

Innsbruck is another city that stays in the top of the Romanian tourist elections in the winter season. In addition to the Christmas fair, which runs in several areas of the city from November to January, tourists have access to a ski area consisting of 9 slopes (some of which can be reached by tram).
