Increased air traffic on Capital's airports

In September, the National Airports Company of Bucharest registered 2014 air traffic of 829.396 of passengers, with almost 9% more than the same period last year. The number of aircraft movements increased by more than 9% compared to September 2013, reaching 9.529 landings and take-offs.

On the two airports of the Capital - Henri Coanda Bucharest International Airport and Bucharest Baneasa-Aurel Vlaicu International Airport - an air traffic of 6.315.511 passengers and 77.190 aircraft movements was registered, in the first nine months of this year.

The number of passengers who crossed the two airports in Bucharest in the first three quarters of 2014 registered an increase of 7,7% compared to the same period last year, thus confirming the premises of reaching the threshold of 8 million passengers throughout the year 2014.

The evolution of the number of passengers at the two airports of the National Company Bucharest Airports significantly outweighs the general trend registered at European level. At the airports of the Capital, there was also an increase in the number of aircraft movements, exceeding in this regard the European trend. Thus, in the first nine months of the year 2014, the number of aircraft movements at the airports in Bucharest increased by 5,7% more than in the same period last year.

At Henri Coandă Bucharest International Airport, 37 currently operates airlines, which transports passengers to 87 from destinations. In the year 2013, two new airlines began operating on AIHCB: easyJet Air and Air Serbia, and from 2014, Ryanair and Air Baltic operated the first regular flights to Henri Coanda Airport.
