Record air traffic at Bucharest airports in the year 2017
Bucharest National Airport Company registered in the 2017 year, on the two airports of the Capital - Henri Coandă International Airport Bucharest and the Băneasa-Aurel Vlaicu International Airport Bucharest, a record number of passengers: 12,84 million, with 16,8% more than 2016, exceeding European average.
The development of passenger air traffic was also manifested by an increase in aircraft movements, on the airports of Bucharest registering, last year, 130.000 of landings and take-offs, with 7,7% more than the previous year.

"The results we obtained in the year 2017, both from the point of view of the increase of the air traffic and from the point of view of the improvement of the financial parameters of the CNAB, are the direct effects of the new management approach, oriented to attracting new airlines. , the expansion of the number of routes operated from Bucharest, the increase of the operating frequencies on the existing routes and, last but not least, towards the optimization of the quality and safety of the airport infrastructure ”, said Bogdan Mîndrescu, the general director of the National Company Bucharest Airports.
The National Airports Company of Bucharest registered, in the year 2017, total revenues of 1,08 billion lei, with 8,3% more than 2016, and a gross profit of 389,7 million lei, with 45% more than the previous year.
Objectives achieved in year 2017:
One of the projects of major importance for the rehabilitation of the infrastructure of the Henri Coandă International Airport in Bucharest was carried out: the maintenance and repair works, totaling 67.228 sqm, at the road structure of the take-off / landing runway no. 1 and the aircraft running routes.
The fluidization of the flows of passengers at arrivals and departures, the optimization of the security control of passengers and hand luggage, as well as the extension to the two lanes of the airport exit flow were implemented.
A European Commission mission verified the measures taken at the airport level for the protection and security of both passengers and airport operations, finding that the Henri Coandă Bucharest International Airport complies with European standards in the field of civil aviation security and that the measures applied at the airport level are in line. in accordance with the provisions of Community law.
The Bucharest Airports National Company has received confirmation that it complies with European aviation safety standards, in accordance with the latest European Union rules. The certification granted by the CNAB authorizes Henri Coandă Bucharest International Airport to operate safely, without restrictions, including long-haul aircraft, which can make transatlantic flights.
