Transaero Airlines has ordered four Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft

Transaero Airlines, one of the largest airlines in Russia, has signed a contract for four aircraft Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The signing ceremony was a more special one, with the event taking place on an 787 aircraft in flight for a demonstration test. The value of the order amounts to 744 million dollars, the airplanes being bought at the list price.

Russia has played an important role in developing the Boeing 787 Dreamliner project. Engineers at Moscow Boeing Design Center have created a number of key elements for the 787 Dreamliner, and now Russian manufacturer VSMPO-AVISMA supplies titanium parts for the revolutionary aircraft.

Transaero was the first private airline in Russia, established in 1991. Transaero was also the first Russian carrier to introduce a Boeing aircraft into its fleet. The airline started using Boeing 737 aircraft from 1993. Today, Transaero is one of the largest airlines in Russia and operates Boeing 737, 747, 767 and 777 aircraft.
