Update August 7: Romania is partially on the list of risk areas. 7 counties have been introduced on the list of risk areas and new travel restrictions are imposed: Argeş, Bihor, Buzău, Neamț, Ialomița, Mehedinți and Timiş.

Initial story: Concidering elimination of the main restrictions applicable to Romanian citizens, who travel between Romania and Germany, we can talk about a return to the specific European normality of freedom of movement. Travel conditions in Germany

Germany has the list of countries considered risk areas. It has 2 criteria according to which it evaluates the risk of a country. 1. It is established in which states / regions they were over 50 recently infected people per 100.000 inhabitants in the last seven days. 2. It is used qualitative criteria to determine whether there is an increased risk of infection in the case of countries / regions that are below the specified capital limit 1.

Those traveling to the Federal Republic of Germany, who have been in a risk zone for the last 14 days prior to entry, may be quarantined according to regulations imposed by the federal regions of Germany.

Please remember: the federal government is continuously examining the extent to which areas can be classified as risk areas. Therefore, there may be short-term changes. Before traveling to Germany, it is a good idea to check if you have been in one of the countries with a high epidemiological risk for the last 14 days.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ROMANIAN CITIZENS TRAVELING TO / FROM ROMANIA:

Given the occurrence of situations in which some persons were denied boarding aircraft from Romania to Germany (due to non-updating of specific internal procedures in accordance with the official German border crossing regime), it is recommended that those who reside or workplace in Germany to have on them documents proving this.
