Turkish Airlines, recognized as the airline with the largest network of destinations (300 to be exact), is considering launching non-stop flights to Australia. Turkish Airlines plans to launch non-stop services to Australia using either Airbus A350-1000XWB or Boeing 777X aircraft.

Turkish Airlines already operates the 777-300ER as well as the A350-900. However, Turkish Airlines President Ahmet Bolat told Aviation Daily that he would like to choose an additional version, such as the A350-1000XWB or Boeing 777X for ultra-long flights from Istanbul to Sydney and Melbourne. "Australia is the only continent we don't fly to," Bolat said.

Bolat does not compare Turkish Airlines 'non-stop services to Australia with Qantas' Project Sunrise, which intends to operate non-stop flights from Australia to London and New York. "This [Project Sunrise] is a different product, with a lower capacity on the flyHe said. „Awe will need more places and we will not change our business model."

For Turkish Airlines, the direct flight time from Istanbul to Sydney and Melbourne would be about 17 hours. The first flights could be operated in 2026 or 2027, at the earliest. "We need to see proof of the maturity of the Boeing 777X or Airbus A350-1000," Bolat said.
