Ukraine hopes to keep airspace open for international flights, despite threats from Russia!
Ukraine is going through a difficult period in terms of territorial stability, but also in terms of aviation and tourism. There is growing talk of an imminent attack by Russia. In this context, more and more airlines canceled flights to / from Ukraine. KLM suspends all flights to Ukraine, with immediate effect! And the SkyUp flight, which was scheduled to land in Kiev, was diverted to Chisinau.
However, Ukraine hopes to keep its airspace open to international flights, despite Western warnings that Russian troops conducting exercises near its borders could invade at any time.
"The airspace above Ukraine remains open and the state is working to prevent risks for airlines," the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure said. Industry analysts believe that other airlines could soon ban flights to Ukraine due to the rising cost to travel insurers.
