During the Videoconference of the members of the European Council that took place between 25 and 26 February 2021, it was discussed  launching a coronavirus vaccination passport that could make the trip to the European Union (EU) possible.

During the press conference that followed virtual meetings of leaders UE, the German Chancellor - Angela Merkel - explained that all countries agree on a system that allows access to the various vaccination passports that have been developed by the 27 Member States.

On March 1, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said Europe would introduce a legislative proposal to launch a Digital Green Pass.

The aim is to find a useful method that contains all the necessary documents for a person to be able to travel safely (proof of vaccination, test results for those who have not yet been able to receive a vaccine and some additional information about COVID-19, but also information on the situation in the destination countries).

"The Digital Green Pass should make life easier for Europeans. The aim is to gradually enable European citizens to travel safely within the European Union or abroad - for work or tourism. ", added von der Leyen.
