Year 2014 ended with results as expected and crowns the efforts sustained by the Sibiu International Airport, with the support of the Sibiu County Council, in two important directions: on the one hand the intensification of the efforts to attract interested airlines to operate new routes, requested by the Sibiu community. and from the surroundings, and on the other hand the increase of the flight frequencies for the already existing routes, so that the airport infrastructure is optimally used.
The number of passengers boarded and disembarked respectively reached the figure of 215.952, and the number of passengers in transit rose to 34.480. Thus, the year 2014 is the first year in which the Sibiu International Airport has exceeded the number of 200.000 of boarded-disembarked passengers and 250.000 of served passengers.
The new destinations, London and Dormtund, operated by our newest partner, Wizzair, as well as the holiday destinations specific to the summer season - the two charter flights to Antalya and Rhodes, operated by Air Bucharest, have contributed to increasing the number of passengers. along with the traffic increases of our traditional partners, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Tarom and Blue Air.
In the same way, the total number of aircraft movements increased, with almost 100, from 4.805 movements in the year 2013 to 4.902 in 2014.
For the year 2015 the same rising trend is foreshadowed, with good wishes both for the Sibiu International Airport and for the entire community in the country and abroad, in which we put all our effort and interest.
