On 25 July 2015, an aircraft of the type Boeing 737-800 (PH-GUA) Transavia operated a sidewalk / crosswind landing landing on the 27 runway at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport.

So far nothing special. The pilots are trained for such landings. There are procedures learned and simulated, so you don't have to panic.

But the story of this landing is a little more complex. The aircraft with 170 passengers on board operated flight HV-5068 (Gerona - Rotterdam). Due to the strong storm, the plane could not land in Rotterdam, and the commander decided to fly to Schiphol.

The weather was just as bad in Amsterdam, but it was reported that there was no more fuel for a diversion to Brussels. So the last solution was to land on one of the airport runways in the Dutch capital.

Due to the strong wind, the first test was completed with a go-around, and the second test was successful and the plane reached the ground without further incident.

As you can see from the video, the aircraft landed at a higher speed than normal (200 Knots / 370 km / h) and without flaps.

Although the safety of the flight was not compromised, the incident was reported to the Dutch Safety Board (DSB). The investigating bodies have requested additional information and then an investigation will be considered.
