(VIDEO) FLASHBACK: The first flight operated by Airbus A320, on 22 February 1987
On 22 February 1987, 29 years ago, an Airbus A320 aircraft took off for the first time. The aircraft flew 3 hours and 23 minutes, thus paving the way for the best-selling single-aisle model in commercial aviation history.
After 1200 flying hours, the European Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA) certified the aircraft on 26 in February 1988, and the first delivery of an A320 aircraft was made on 26 in March 1988, with Air France being the launch air operator.
Subsequently, the A320 aircraft family has been enriched with the A318, A319 and A321 models. From 1988 until now, Airbus has delivered 6892 aircraft from the A320 family, and 1061 are in production. In 2015, Airbus reported a production of 42 of aircraft per month from the A320 family, and the plan is to increase production at 50 of aircraft per month from 2017.
