The second prototype Airbus A320neo (D-AVVA), equipped with engines Pratt & Whitney PW1127G, took off on 25 March 2015 from the Airbus base in Hamburg, and the destination was Toulouse. Airbus will use 8 aircraft from the A320neo family (4 x A320neo, 2 x A319neo, 2 x A321neo) to collect the 3000 flight hours required for certification.

Airbus plans to obtain certification on A320neo later this year, and the first delivery to be made in Q4 2015, the launch customer being Qatar Airways.

At the end of February, Airbus had firm orders for 3648 of A320neo family aircraft: 2844 A320neo aircraft, 755 A321neo aircraft and 49 A319neo aircraft.

The new A320neo "new engine option" includes many innovations, including more efficient and reliable state-of-the-art engines, as well as Sharklets terminations. The manufacturer promises a fuel economy of up to 15% compared to the current generation and a reduction of 3.600 tonnes of C02 / aircraft / year.
