Coronavirus outbreak negatively affects the entire aeronautical industry and global tourism. Every day, airlines cancel flights, close routes, hold aircraft on the ground.

Also due to the Coronavirus epidemic, Virgin Atlantic hastened the withdrawal of the last 3 Airbus A340-600 aircraft from its fleet. The last A340 Virgin left the fleet on March 8, operating the commercial flight Lagos-Murtala Mohamed - London Heathrow.

The last 3 Airbus A340-600 Virgin aircraft

Virgin Atlantic A340-600 G-VFIT aircraft he was 13.8 years old. It was delivered in 2006, from Toulouse directly to the Virgin Atlantic Airways fleet. It was configured in 3 comfortable classes: 45 seats in Business, 38 seats in Premium and 225 in Economy (308 seats in total). The same configuration is found on the other 2 A340-600 aircraft (G-VNAP and G-VWIN), which left the fleet in February and March 2020.

Unfortunately, A340 aircraft are increasingly rare at airports around the world. In September 2019 I published a top 10 of airlines with A340 in fleets.

Virgin Atlantic Airways currently has a fleet of 4 x Airbus A350-1000, 7 x Boeing 747-400, 17 x Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. And it also has controls for 8 x A350-1000 and 14 x Airbus A330-900neo.
