The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a travel warning to Cyprus. Following the rejection, at first, by the Cypriot Parliament of the proposals regarding the taxation of deposits from the banks located in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, efforts are still being made to find a solution to conclude the agreement on the financial rescue package.

A decision in this regard must be made by Tuesday, 26 March 2013. Meanwhile, Cypriot banks remain closed. Cash withdrawals can only be made from ATMs, within limited limits (260-400 euro).

At the same time, service providers (shops, restaurants, gas stations, etc.) do not accept payment through cards, as it is not possible to verify the balance.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Romanian citizens traveling to the Republic of Cyprus, during this period, hold cash in euro, sufficient for the duration of their stay and take the necessary measures to ensure the security of their valuables.
