WestJet Airlines (Calgary) performed the 1 million flight yesterday with one of the Boeing 737 Next-Generation aircraft. Mileston was hit by the WS 612 flight departing from Calgary to Toronto (Pearson).

WestJet, a Canadian low-cost carrier, started operations on 1996 with three Boeing 737-200 aircraft. They operated routes on the western side of Canada. Since May 2001, WestJet has replaced older aircraft with some new generation such as Boeing Next-Generation 737-600, -700 and -800.

From 2001 to the present, WestJet has carried over 110 million passengers on 1 million flights with the new Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft. WestJet aircraft have flown altogether over 2,4 billion, the equivalent of 15 traveling to Mars and back :).
