The new airline Wizz Air Abu Dhabi supports the "Ghadan 21" initiatives to make the capital of the United Arab Emirates an attractive global destination for business, tourism and housing

Wizz Air Holdings Plc ("Wizz Air") announced the finalization of the agreement with Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company PJSC ("ADDH") to create a joint venture Wizz Air Abu Dhabi. The new low-cost airline will launch operations at the Abu Dhabi International Airport in the fall of 2020.

The deal represents an important milestone in the launch of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, a new low-cost airline based in the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Wizz Air Abu Dhabi intends to start operations in the second half of the year, offering low fares and high quality onboard experience to a number of destinations in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

Information also appeared with the first markets with potential to fly from Abu Dhabi. These are Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro. But also to destinations in Russia. The Bucharest-Abu Dhabi route would not be excluded, but it remains to be seen what will happen.

As Wizz Air Abu Dhabi's recruitment activities will begin in the coming months, the agreement will create new job opportunities, boost the economy and attract more visitors to Abu Dhabi. The announcement is also in line with Abu Dhabi's AED 50 billion acceleration program, Ghadan 21, which is behind the development of the Emirates through investments in business, innovation and people.

Following the agreement, the airline's development team has already initiated the process with the General Civil Aviation Authority of the United Arab Emirates to obtain the air operator's certificate and the carrier's operating license.
