Wizz Air, Europe's fastest growing and most environmentally sustainable airline globally, today announces the launch of its cadet program "She Can Fly", part of the Wizz Air Pilot Academy, for women aspiring to become commercial pilots. Wizz Air Pilot Academy is a market-leading training program for motivated candidates to obtain their commercial pilot license. Since its launch in 2017, more than 150 candidates have successfully completed the program and are now working as pilots within Wizz Air.
She can fly cadet program
While only 5% of pilots in the industry are women, Wizz Air is committed to eliminating stereotypes and encouraging gender equality within the profession. Its brand new Pilot Academy program, aimed at women aged 18+, offers a unique, simple and financially accessible way to become a commercial pilot with Wizz Air.
The training program, which accepts applications from female candidates with little or no experience, takes 18 months to complete in cooperation with Tréner Flight Academy in Hungary. The airline offers more than 20 seats annually to women who agree that gender barriers should not exist.
The integrated program for obtaining a commercial pilot's license
The integrated commercial pilot license program begins with initial training where cadets will acquire the theoretical knowledge and skills necessary to become pilots. Successfully graduating cadets will then move on to advanced training, which includes a five-week transition course for operating Airbus A320 aircraft. Next, the cadets will undergo specific Wizz Air training, before becoming full-fledged first officers of the airline.
Wizz Air's 'She can fly' cadet program offers candidates the best deal of similar programs as the course offers an unprecedented low tuition fee and pre-enrolment recruitment to show the airline's commitment to the programme. Cadets only have to pay €800 before the course and the remaining fee of €60.668 is paid in advance by the company if they meet the required standard requirements after the fifth month of training.
The cadets will then pay the remaining fee in equal installments over a period of six years, once they receive a full salary as a first officer with Wizz Air. Cadets joining Wizz Air through the Pilot Academy programme, including the 'She can fly' programme, will have the opportunity to operate the airline's ever-growing fleet of new, ultra-modern and sustainable Airbus aircraft operating on more than 900 routes to around 200 destinations in over 50 countries.
Recruitment efforts for new cadets support Wizz Air's ambitious plans to triple its fleet size to 2030 aircraft by 500, which will enable the airline to hire up to 4.600 new pilots.
