György Abrán, Chief Commercial Officer at Wizz Air:

"Wizz Air's commitment to the Romanian market is today underlined by the latest investment in Oltenia. I launched the first flight from Craiova in May 2013, and today I am happy to announce a new base with an aircraft that will be allocated starting with July next year. We are delighted that Romanians are enthusiastic about our affordable fares and that Oltenia passengers have already discovered our fares to London Luton and Milan Bergamo. Today we announce 4 new routes to Italy, Germany and Spain and we hope that they will also become popular among our consumers and stimulate the creation of jobs in aviation and tourism. We look forward to bringing even more affordable rates in Romania. "

Ion Prioteasa, President of Dolj County Council:

“Five months ago, together with Wizz Air, we launched the first low-cost Craiova-Milan flights. I then proceeded to open the route to London, Luton. Today, we are strengthening our partnership, an association based on transparency and mutual respect, through an announcement that aims to strengthen the position of Craiova Airport: establishing a permanent Wizz Air base and launching four new Wizz Air destinations to Barcelona, Dortmund, Bologna and Rome. At the end of almost five years of work, we are pleased to note that the plan to modernize and make the only existing airport in the south of Romania, in which Dolj County Council has long believed, is today a successful project. I am glad that we are able to offer the tens of thousands of Oltenians who are traveling outside the borders of the country the opportunity to get home more often and easier. One of the chances of development of our region is Craiova Airport, the main gateway for foreign investors in Oltenia. It is a project in which we have put a lot of soul, because we strongly believe that Craiova Airport is the project that develops Oltenia ”.

Mircea Dumitru, director of Craiova Airport:

"The good news given today by the president of the Dolj County Council, Mr. Ion Prioteasa, and the commercial director of the Wizz Air Group, Mr. Gyorgy Abran, is part of the policy, but also of the steps that Craiova Airport has developed in recent years: opening new races to as many European destinations as possible. I welcome the decision of the management of Wizz Air Group to establish one of its bases at Craiova Airport. For us, it is a positive signal that a major airline operator takes such a decision, confirming, once again, that Craiova Airport respects all the required aviation standards and rises to the standards of one of European rank.
