The Hungarian low-cost company Wizz Air has decided to close its base in Chisinau, from December 1, 2022. This means that its aircraft will no longer be stationed on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. The decision was taken against the background of the war in Ukraine and the missiles that crossed the airspace of Moldova.

"After a thorough risk assessment and taking into account the possible closure of the airspace of the Republic of Moldova, we have adjusted our winter schedule for the period 2022-2023 from Chisinau. To minimize disruption to our Moldovan customers, we will be changing the operation of most of our flights from / to Chisinau starting December 1, 2022", says the company's press release.

Until November 30, 2022, Wizz Air will continue to operate flights from Chisinau to Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom.

From 1 December 2022, Wizz Air will operate flights to Chisinau from Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK. Flights from Chisinau to Paris Beauvais, Brussels Charleroi, Basel-Mulhouse and Turin will be suspended.
