Wizz Air has commissioned 110 Airbus A321neo aircraft
Wizz Air has signed an agreement with Airbus SAS for the purchase of 110 Airbus A321neo with delivery from 2019. The agreement is in favor of Wizz Air and gives 90 the right to purchase additional A321neo aircraft. The new aircraft will replace existing aircraft when returned to the leasing company, and will provide additional capacity for Wizz Air's development in the future. Under the agreement, Wizz Air has the possibility to replace part of the A321neo aircraft with Airbus A320neo, depending on the company's future needs. Following the agreement, Wizz Air will cancel the order for 10 A320ceo family aircraft, which were scheduled for delivery to 2018, according to the agreement already existing between Wizz Air and Airbus SAS
According to the list price, the agreement on firm aircraft control has a value of over 12,5 billion USD, to which reductions will apply. The finalization of the order is subject to the final approval of the conditions of the agreement by the Wizz Air Board, the successful negotiation of the final contract and, subsequently, the validation by the shareholder Wizz Air.
"Once completed, our order will include the new Airbus A321neo with the 239-seat Cabin Flex configuration at the 18-inch comfort standard," said Váradi. "This neo (New Engine Option) aircraft offers significantly lower operating costs and lower fuel consumption, which will have a direct impact on our costs," said József Váradi, Chief Executive Officer of Wizz Air.
Wizz Air has received 61 Airbus A320 aircraft from the total order of 112, which includes high capacity 27 A321, which will be delivered starting in November. Deliveries of 41 aircraft remaining in order, following the cancellation of 10 aircraft under the new order, will continue until mid-year.
