Wizz Air opens the company's 17 base in Riga
Wizz Air inaugurated its 17 base in Riga, Latvia. Wizz Air will initially allocate an Airbus A320 aircraft that will operate 4 new routes: Barcelona, Doncaster Sheffield, Dortmund and Paris Beauvais.
In addition to Wizz Air adding new flights from Riga, the company is also increasing the frequency of existing services to London Luton and Oslo Torp. Wizz Air now offers 8 routes to 6 countries in the Latvian capital. This expansion may stimulate the local aviation job market as well as the tourism sector, with more visitors now traveling to Latvia at affordable rates.

Anrijs Matīss, Minister of Transport of Latvia, said: “I have a very good opinion about Wizz Air's decision to open a base in Riga airport. New jobs will be created for Latvian citizens and the new routes will improve people's mobility by offering new travel opportunities. It is a promising commitment for future successful cooperation and strengthens the status of the Riga airport traffic center in the Baltic region ”.
