The WIZZ Air company, one of the most important air operators in Europe, announced today the first two destinations it will operate from the Braşov-Ghimbav International Airport. These are London (Luton) - with the first scheduled flight on August 2, 2023, and Dortmund - with flights starting from September 2, 2023.
There will be return flights to London every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while there will be flights to and from Dortmund every Tuesday and Saturday. Starting from Thursday, April 6, at 14:00, tickets are available for sale on the website of the WIZZ Air company.
Wizz Air flights from Brasov
Alexandru Anghel, the general director of the Autonomous Authority "Brasov-Ghimbav International Airport" RA, is the one who held the talks with the WIZZ Air officials during the last years, and the first results are now materializing, with these announced destinations.
"After long analyzes and in-depth negotiations, we reached the point where we agreed with the management of WIZZ Air the terms of an official agreement. We hope that the two destinations are only the first of a larger number that we want this important company to cover at European level", mentioned Alexandru Anghel.
For his part, Adrian-Ioan Veştea, of the Braşov County Council, declared: "We are glad that we can announce at the same time with the WIZZ Air company the launch of the first air flights to destinations expected by the people of Brasov and the Romanian communities in England and Germany.
Thus, London - with Luton Airport is practically a mandatory destination for an airline flying from Braşov, given that according to official data, over a hundred thousand Romanians live, work and study officially in the capital of Great Britain, among which very many are from Brasov. With the Dortmund destination, we cover the need for air mobility for the Romanian communities in the western part of Germany. Dortmund is the eighth city in Germany in terms of the number of inhabitants, it is an important university center and a destination that I am convinced will arouse special interest from potential travelers from Brasov County and neighboring counties".
