Wizz Air opens a base in Varna, the 27th in the network

Wizz Air announced the opening of the base in Varna (Bulgaria), where it will fly with a new aircraft Airbus A320, starting with July 21 2017. It is the 27 base of the operational network. Already served by the company's flights, Varna will be the second airport in Bulgaria where Wizz Air will operate.

The establishment of the Varna base attracts one 98 investment of millions of dollars (the price of the aircraft allocated) by WIZZ, which will create 36 direct jobs within the company. Also, the operations carried out at the base will contribute to the local economy and will support jobs in aviation, transport and tourism.

The new aircraft will increase the number of routes from Varna to seven. New WIZZ flights will link Varna with Dortmund and Munchen Memmingen in Germany, Eindhoven in Netherlands, Larnaca in Cyprus and Milan Bergamo in Italy. The frequency of the popular London Luton route will increase to 10 weekly flights.

In 2017, Wizz Air will have over 380.000 of places put up for sale on its routes from Varna, representing an increase of 260% from year to year.

In 2017, with this new aircraft, Wizz Air will have eight aircraft allocated in Bulgaria - 7 in Sofia and 1 in Varna - and a crew of over 300 of employees permanently serving its customers. The WIZZ network in Bulgaria now consists of 43 routes, including an internal route between Sofia and Varna.
