Wizz air recorded delays on 280 flights from / to Bucharest in the first month of 2023

According to reports made by Bucharest National Airports Company, Wizz Air had delays of at least one hour on 280 flights from / to Bucharest, between December 29, 2022 and February 1, 2023. At the same time, Wizz Air started optimizing the operational network in Romania for 2023, eliminating several routes from the system, some even newly launched, which also led to flight cancellations.

The main reasons, according to Wizz Air, are related to the rotation of aircraft and cabin crews. The navigant staff crisis is far from being solved globally and, implicitly, within the Wizz Air company. We remind you that in 2022, airports around the world and most airlines faced great problems in managing air traffic due to lack of staff, which led to thousands of canceled or delayed flights and millions of passengers affected worldwide.

Those affected by canceled or delayed flights (more than three hours) may be eligible for financial compensation under the 2004 EU regulations and can complaints to Wizz air. Regulation (EC) no. 261/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 February 2004 established common rules on compensation and passenger assistance in the event of denied boarding and cancellation or prolonged delay of flights.

It costs you nothing to apply for these rights. You may be eligible or for reasons beyond the airline's control you may not be eligible, but you won't know unless you try. There is air passenger rights and the eligibility situations are clearly specified.

Regarding the canceled routes, we mention here Bucharest – Rimini (no flights from May 16); Bucharest – Ancona (no flights from March 22); Sibiu – Madrid (no flights from March 24); IAțI – Bari (no flights from March 22). In addition to these routes, we remind you that Wizz Air will close the base in Bacău and reduce its activity from/to the "George Enescu" Airport.

It is true that new routes have also been announced, some really interesting ones such as those from Bucharest and Cluj to Antalya or Iași - Istanbul. Wizz Air is a flexible company when it comes to flights and routes, always looking to fly efficiently.
