10 million passengers transported to Cluj-Napoca

The six aircraft allocated to the base in Cluj-Napoca represent an investment of over 600 million dollars, and almost 200 employees are part of the local WIZZ team. The company will expand its operations in November by allocating the seventh aircraft to Cluj-Napoca International Airport, which will generate an additional 100 million dollars investment.

In 2017, over 1,8 millions of passengers to and from Cluj enjoyed the WIZZ low prices. WIZZ operations in Cluj-Napoca support over 1.400 jobs locally in the aviation and tourism industries.

The first WIZZ flight from Cluj-Napoca airport took place in October 2007 and since then the company has continuously grown its network.

From Romania, WIZZ now offers a total of 144 routes to 22 countries, from 10 local airports. The assignment of a new aircraft to the airport in Cluj, in November 2018, causes the number of the Romanian fleet to reach 25 of flying aircraft, and the number of employees to more than 1.000.

With more than 8,9 million places for sale on its routes in Romania, including the start of 25 new routes in 2018, WIZZ capacity has increased year by year by 14%.

Since October 27, Wizz Air gives up the route Cluj - Bucharest, the only domestic route in Romania operated by the Hungarian low-cost carrier. Also renounce the routes Bucharest - Budapest, Bucharest - Athens, Cluj - Athens and Iasi - Malmo. Also from the winter schedule, Wizz Air also stops flights on Bucharest - Lisbon and Bucharest - Kutaisi routes.

According to some specifications made by Wizz Air regarding the routes removed from the winter schedule 2018-2019, we can conclude that some routes will return in the 2019 summer schedule.
