On January 17, 2020, Wizz Air announced 5 new routes from Vienna base and the allocation of a new Airbus A321 aircraft. The aircraft will be allocated on July 1, 2020, which will facilitate the expansion of operations from the base in Vienna.

The 5 new routes will be: Alghero, Corfu, Faro, Podgorica and Suceava (as of July 3, 2020). At the same time, there will be an increase in flight frequencies to Milan, Rome, Malaga and Porto. New routes are loaded in the system, with fares starting at € 19.99. With the launch of the 5 new routes, the Wizz Air operational network in Vienna counts 49 destinations in 27 countries. Among them, there is also the route Vienna - Cluj, which was inaugurated on May 30, 2018.

Wizz Air opened its base in Vienna in June 2018. In just 1.5 years, the Wizz Air base at Vienna International Airport has grown to 7 aircraft, and another 2 will be allocated this summer. The 8th aircraft will arrive in June, and the 9th aircraft on July 1, 2020. The plan is that from 2020, the entire fleet allocated to the Vienna base will be composed of 321 passengers with A230 aircraft.

In 2019, Wizz Air carried approximately 2.2 million passengers to / from Vienna. And by 2020, Wizz Air will have 4.1 million seats in Vienna's operational network.
