The expansion takes place less than two months after the Hungarian company opened a base with a single plane at Bari airport - a move he said "underlines the importance of the Italian market" for its operations.

The new routes will connect Bari with Abu Dhabi (AUH), Basel (BSL), Corfu (CFU), London Luton (LTN), Milan Linate (LIN), Mykonos (JMK), Tel Aviv (TLV) and Venice Treviso (TSF). .

Data provided by OAG Schedules Analyzer shows that during the summer season, Wizz intends to offer approximately 16.000 weekly departures from Bari (BRI), compared to the 7.500 seats it provided in the same period in 2019.

Services to Milano Linate, London Luton and Venice Treviso will start on 1 July. There will be 12 weekly flights to Milan and 2 weekly flights to both London and Venice. Of the eight new routes launched by Wizz, the airline will face direct competition on three of them. Volotea serves Corfu and Mykonos, and Alitalia flies between Bari and Milan. Ryanair and Volotea also operate flights on the Bari - Venice route, while British Airways, easyJet and Ryanair have the Bari - London route in their operational schedule.
