The air operator Xiamen Airlines intends to open the first route to Europe, to Amsterdam. At the same time, he wants to link the base from Xiamen from Sydney, Australia.

Like SkyTeam partner Garuda Indonesia, Xiamen Airlines chooses Amsterdam's first Schiphol airport as a European destination. The Chinese authorities gave the green light for the introduction of this route from the base in Xiamen-Gaoqi. Xiamen Airlines plans to open reservations for this route in March 2015.

The flights will be operated by Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, the only long-haul aircraft in the Xiamen Airlines fleet. They are configured in 3 classes: 4 seats in First Class, 18 seats in Business Class and 215 seats in Economy Class.

Xiamen Airlines has approximately 50 destinations in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Macao; 3 destinations in Taiwan; also flies to Bangkok, Jakarta, Singapore, Seoul and Jeju from South Korea and Siem Reap to Cambodia, and on 8 February will land in Manila, Philippines.

Xiamen Airlines has an all Boeing fleet: 105 Boeing 737-700 / -800 aircraft, 6 757-200 aircraft and 2 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft. It also has orders placed for 100 aircraft: 60 737-800, 30 aircraft 737 MAX 8, 4 787-8 and 6 Comac ARJ21-700 aircraft.
