The sad news comes from the UK. Due to the pandemic, the oldest British pub, known as Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, was closed after 1229 years.

The Ye Olde Fighting Cocks pub was founded in St Albans, near London, before the Norman conquest of 793. The current owner of the unit, Christo Tofalli, said he tried his best to keep the pub open, but "the last two years have been unprecedented for the hospitality industry. ”

According to Tofalli, his heart is broken, because the pub was not just a business. The inn staff was like a family to him and he is very sorry that he has to fire them.

Ye Olde Fighting Cocks was on the record book until the year 2000. There is no exact data on anyone in this pub, the building dates from the 1756th century, and some evidence says it existed from 793 and not XNUMX, but neither does this information. I'm not sure.
