The Embraer 120ER aircraft with 30 people on board landed at Remetea airport, after the border control was done at Cluj-Napoca airport, so the passengers arrived in Harghita 1.5 hours after leaving Budapest. The plane was received by the airport builder, Attila Balázs, one of the richest businessmen in Hungary and the head of the Bayer group of companies, but also by Barti Tihamér, the regional president of UDMR Gheorghieni and the mayor of Remetea, Albert Elemér Laczkó.
"Starting next year, two daily flights between Remetea and Budapest are planned. One will be to transport the employees of our companies, and the second will provide passenger traffic accessible to everyone”, said Attila Balázs, who is also the owner and president of the ACSH Gheorgheni hockey club, quoted by economica.net.
The official code of Remetea Airport will be LRHR, i.e. the abbreviation of the name of Hargita county in addition to LR (the air transport code of Romania). The plan is that, in the near future, the airport can handle 15 passengers. The hangar, the passenger terminal and everything necessary for an airport worthy of international flights are to be built.
