EVA Air took possession of the first Airbus A321 equipped with Sharklets

EVA Air, a major carrier in Taiwan, has acquired the first Airbus A321 equipped with Sharklets. The aircraft was delivered at a ceremony in Hamburg, attended by Chang Kuo Wei, EVA Air President, and Norman Liu, President and CEO of GECAS.

It is part of an order of 8 A321 units equipped with Sharklets that will be operated by EVA Air under a lease agreement from GECAS. Airbus A321 is the largest member of the Airbus A320 family. The first Airbus A321 EVA Air comes painted in the Star Alliance colors.

"Sharklet" is a piece made of composite materials, is 2.4 meters high, triangular in shape and is mounted on the wing tips. The "Sharklet" effect translates to reducing fuel consumption by up to 4% and CO2 emissions by up to 700 tonnes per aircraft / year or increasing autonomy by up to 160 km or increasing the supported mass by up to 450 Kg.
