Record air traffic at Bucharest airports: over 4.2 million passengers in the first four months of 2023!

Bucharest Airports National Company registered, in the first four months of 2023, at Henri Coandă Bucharest International Airport and Bucharest-Băneasa Aurel Vlaicu International Airport, an air traffic of 4.283.687 passengers and 37.888 aircraft movements (landings and takeoffs).

The number of passengers who transited the Bucharest airports in the first four months of this year registered a relevant increase of 38.7% compared to the same period last year, thus creating the conditions for reaching the threshold of 14 million passengers in the whole year 2023.

Compared to the similar period in 2019, when the Capital's airports recorded the historical maximum, in 2-23 there was an increase of 95.109 passengers at the two Bucharest airports. Also, at the capital's airports, the number of aircraft movements reached 37.888 in the first four months of 2023, 11,8% more than the same period last year.

In view of the accelerated increase in the number of passengers, it is possible that at certain times of the day, there may be congestion on the departure flows. Thus, in order to ensure optimal conditions for boarding the aircraft on time, we recommend that passengers take the necessary measures to present themselves at the airport in time, 3 hours before take-off, and to have all the necessary documents, as required by the carrier airline.

Most European and worldwide airports face a similar situation during the summer, the evolution of the number of passengers at Bucharest's two airports being part of the general trend recorded at European level.
