Trains of the sun 2023: 32 trains have Mangalia as their final destination!

From 16/17 June 2023, all trains go to the Black Sea. CFR Călători starts the summer transport program "Trains of the Sun". Tourists will have at their disposal 32 trains that will provide daily direct connections from all over the country to the resorts on the Black Sea coast and the Danube Delta until September 10/11, 2023.

Soarelui trains to the Romanian coast

All regions of the country will be connected during the summer with the most important ones resorts on the Romanian coast. CFR Călători offers everyone the opportunity to travel either by direct trains from Arad, Deva, Timișoara Nord, Reșita Nord, Oradea, Satu Mare, Baia Mare, Cluj Napoca, Târgu Mureș, Brașov, Suceava, Iași, Galați, Buzău, or by insurance a fast connection from Bucharest North by means of trains that run on a staggered schedule (every 1-2 hours) on the route Bucharest North - Constanța and back. Thus, for three months,

  • 32 direct trains (16 outward/16 return, including related branches), of which 18 trains (9 outward/9 return) have Mangalia as their destination/departure.
  • 38 trains (19 outbound/19 return) will connect the capital with the coast and return: 15 pairs from Bucharest North (of which 9 pairs also pass through Bucharest Băneasa), 3 pairs only from Bucharest Băneasa and 1 pair from Bucharest Obor.
  • For the trip to the Danube Delta, from June 17, 2023, the trains IR 1981 / R 8653 and R 8656 / IR 1982 will ensure the daily direct connection Bucharest North - Tulcea City and return for the entire duration of the season. Also, in Medgidia, the connection to Tulcea Oraș and return by train from the capital or Constanța will be ensured daily.

Travel conditions

All InterRegio summer trains have air-conditioned class carriages, equipped with electrical sockets for charging the laptop or mobile phone battery, ecological toilets, semi-automatic access and intermediate doors, most of the carriages have been modernized (completely rebuilt) in the last 13 years. Also, the long-distance trains consist of sleeping cars, some of which also have air-conditioned sleeping cars, and the IR 1941 and IR 1942 Satu Mare/ Baia Mare/ Cluj Napoca/ Târgu Mureș – Mangalia and return trains also have carriages equipped with space designed for bar activity.

Tickets for CFR Călători trains are accessible to everyone through the varied range of commercial offers. For the services included in the special summer program, all travel facilities granted by the normative acts in force are valid.

Fares Trains of the Sun 2023

The fare for a journey with a reserved seat on the route Bucharest Nord - Constanța in 2nd class, on the IC train is 82,00 lei, on the IR train is 72,00 lei and on the Regio train is 37,00 lei. Travelers can also benefit from discounts such as: 10% discount on the transport fare when buying a ticket with the return offer; a discount of up to 10% of the transport fare when buying in advance, 25% when buying on the basis of the TrenPlus card. Students benefit from free travel, and students from a 50% discount when traveling in 2nd class carriages.

During the summer transport program, on the Constanța - Mangalia section, tourists on the Romanian coast have the opportunity to travel between the seaside resorts with the Regio trains provided by CFR Călători. Also, the long-distance trains coming from the country's big cities (departing from Arad, Oradea, Timişoara, Satu Mare, Târgu Mureş, Cluj Napoca, Sibiu, Resita, Suceava, Iași, Craiova, Bucharest, etc.) will provide a direct connection with the seaside resorts, up to Mangalia.
